The brain child of Timothy Putnam, the Co-op Dealer License Opportunity is the evolution of 28+ years of hard work, millions of dollars of cars sales, hundreds of Co-op Used Car Dealerships and thousands of happy members..!
While enrolled at the University of New Hampshire, Timothy Putnam was offered a business opportunity by a friend who owned a used car dealership.
The offer was simple, for a small monthly fee paid to the dealership, Tim could have access to dealer only auto auctions and a dealer plate. This allowed access to used cars at dealer only prices and a way to test drive cars legally.
So for a small monthly fee, Tim was able to legally buy and sell used cars and keep all the profits, without the huge financial burden of maintaining his own dealership.
This arrangement is what led Tim to develop the “Share the cost, keep the profits” Co-op Dealership concept.
During the five years that Tim attended the University of New Hampshire, he earned a Masters in Business from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, a Bachelors in Psychology, a Minor in Philosophy and was one class shy of earning a Minor in Political Science.
And Tim paid his way through school by purchasing and selling used cars right out of his dorm room..!
By the end of his fifth year at UNH, Tim had also setup three Co-op Dealerships, two in Massachusetts, one in New Hampshire and had over forty (40) Co-op Members selling used cars all over New England..!
Timothy Putnam graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of New Hampshire in 1996 and it was at his point he had a decision to make. He could interview for a corporate job like all his classmates were doing or he could take his Co-op Dealership Business Opportunity to the next level.
Tim dabbled in a few other business ventures as well, such as online dating and medical staffing, yet he was always intrigued with selling the American dream. The fact that he was able to pay his way through school by selling cars part time was amazing to him and he just wanted to share that opportunity with anyone who had an interest..!
Armed with his MBA and five years of successfully selling used cars out of his dorm room, Tim decided to grow the business from a part-time gig into a full-fledged business venture.
Over the next four years from 1996 to 2000, Tim diligently grew the business in the New England area, continually refining and perfecting the Co-op Dealership concept.
After steadily building the business and refining the Co-op Dealership model in the New England area, Tim’s next goal was to expand nationwide.
The first set of Co-op Dealerships was located in Texas. The geographical central location of Texas was significant in helping the company to expand the Co-op Dealership concept nationwide. By 2004 the company had opened close to 20 Co-op Dealerships and expanded the corporate office staff to eight full time employees.
So the first step in national expansion was westward from New England to Texas. The next step was to expand “outward” from Texas to the rest of the country. By the end of 2007 the company added another 15+ Co-op Dealerships in states like Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, Oregon, Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Minnesota and Nevada.
